Islamabad: Pakistan on September 9 termed as "speculative" reports that President Pervez Musharraf planned to discuss conversion of line of control (LoC) in Kashmir into border between India and Pakistan during his talks with US President George W Bush in New York this week.

"These are all totally speculative reports," Foreign Ministry spokesman Aziz Ahmed Khan said at a media briefing in Islamabad when asked about reports in Pakistani media that Musharraf in his talks with Bush on September 12 would discuss the option of recognising LoC as the border.

He said the Bush-Musharraf parleys would focus on the situation in the region vis a vis India, the Kashmir issue and other international matters of mutual interest.

Khan welcomed the Ram Jethmalani-led Kashmir Committee's stand that the Kashmir issue should be resolved peacefully and the Hurriyat leaders be allowed to visit Pakistan for consultations.

Asked about the Jethmalani Committee's intention to hold talks with the Pakistan government-sponsored Kashmir Committee, the spokesman said, "We have to wait and see what further developments take place."

"For settlement (of the Kashmir issue) the dialogue should be held between India and Pakistan at the official level with the participation of the true representatives of the Kashmiris, which is Hurriyat."
