Siliguri (WB): A team of the Jalpaiguri police would go to Jaisalmer in Rajasthan
soon to interrogate an Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) module member, Nazrul,
arrested there on September 8, the superintendent of police, Jalpaiguri, Siddhnath
Gupta, said.
The interrogation, Gupta said, was necessary because another member of the same ISI
module, Sattar Ali, was arrested from near Binnaguri Army Cantonment with valuable
Army documents in Jalpaiguri district on September 10.
Sattar, who was sent to police remand for a week after production at the court on
September 11, had divulged name of an Army havildar as his source who is at present
posted at a border camp of the Army, intelligence sources said.
Army intelligence co-ordinating with other intelligence agencies and the state
police was now working hard to unearth the ISI network inside the Army as collection
of the documents seized from Sattar would not have been possible without involvement
of an Army person, the sources said.
During interrogation, Sattar had admitted that he had a plan to marry a local girl
and open a telephone booth near Binnagur Cantonment to pass on important information
to his higher-ups more comfortably.
