Kopargaon (Maharashtra): Gujarat Governor Sundersingh Bhandari on September 18 said
he has asked for the videotapes from concerned television channels that aired the
speech of Chief Minister Narendra Modi during Gujarat 'gaurav yatra', where he
reportedly made comments against minorities.
Talking to reporters at Shirdi, he said though Opposition parties have not lodged
complaints against Modi's statement, precaution should be taken by political parties
and social organisations to prevent recurrence of violence in the riot-ravaged
state.
Godhra massacre has already maligned the image of the country he said and expressed
hope that in future Modi does not make controversial comments against
minorities.
To a query, he said rehabilitation work of quake-affected people was going on
speedily in Gujarat by the state government and social organisations.
Gujarat's health minister Ashok Bhat, who was accompanying the governor, said Modi
was one of the most impressive chief ministers of Gujarat and under his leadership
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would retain its power in the state.
