Mumbai: Without confirming the arrest of gangster Abu Salem in Portugal, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on September 20 said if such reports were true then it was good news for city police, businessmen and the film world.

Reacting to reports about Salem's arrest in Lisbon, Bhujbal, in a statement, said the gangster was involved in many criminal cases, mafia activities and the 1993 bomb blasts in the metropolis.

With Salem's arrest, many would be spared from trouble, he hoped.
