Mumbai: Maharashtra government on September 24 sounded a red alert across the state in the wake of terrorist attack on Swaminarayan temple at Gandhinagar in neighbouring Gujarat, Minister of State for Home Kripashankar Singh said.

"We have sounded a red alert all over the state after terrorists stormed the Swaminarain temple," Singh said.

Strict vigil will be maintained at all places of worship and key installations in the state, he said.

Meanwhile, sources at the state police headquarters said that, "Orders have been issued to all commissioners and district heads of the police to take precautionary measures to maintain communal harmony."

Security has been stepped up at all the major establishments in the metropolis, city police sources added.
