Ahmedabad: Gujarat Congress on September 24 called for a state-wide bandh on
September 25 to protest the terrorist attack at Aksardham Swaminarayan temple at
Gandhinagar in which at least 23 people were killed.
In a joint statement, Gujarat Congress president Shankersinh Vaghela and senior
party leader Amarsinh Chaudhary expressed "deep grief" over the incident and
condemned it in strongest term.
They said the incident exposes the hollow claim made by Deputy Prime Minister L K
Advani, who also represents Gandhinagar in Lok Sabha, on efforts being made to
stonewall the cross border terrorism.
"The attack on Aksardham is assault on the peace message of Lord Swaminarayan," they
said appealing to the citizens to co-operate during the protest bandh.
"We also appeal to the people to observe bandh in peaceful and silent manner and
pray for peace and tranquility in all places of worships in Gujarat," they added.
