Temple attack: poor light hampers rescue work
Tuesday, September 24 2002 21:18 Hrs (IST)

Ahmedabad: The fall of night has compounded the task of security forces to rescue the trapped people in the temple complex and go on a hot pursuit of the militants who attacked the place of worship on September 24 evening.

The arrival of the elite National Security Guards (NSG) from Delhi is being eagerly awaited to bolster the security operations amidst reports that the militants were attacking at random the desperate people fleeing from the temple.

The night vision devices used by the sharpshooters are expected to help in the operations as the sprawling 23 acre temple complex remained sealed.

Local commandoes have also taken up vantage positions.

Meanwhile, there were reports that all Satyanarain temples in Gujarat have been closed to public, as a precautionary measure.
