New Delhi: An estimated 42 per cent of the nearly 20 lakh voters exercised their
franchise in the second phase of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir covering
Jammu, Srinagar and Badgam districts on September 24, the Election Commission said.
Deputy Election Commissioner Sayan Chatterjee told reporters that the turnout of
voters was the highest in Jammu district (59 per cent) followed by Badgam (51 per
cent) and Srinagar (11 per cent).
The highest turnout in a constituency, Chamb in Jammu district was 70 per cent and
the lowest of one per cent in Habbakadal in Srinagar district.
In the Valley, the highest voter turnout of 59 per cent was recorded at
Charar-e-Sharif while the lowest voting in Jammu was recorded at Jammu West (44 per
cent).
