Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to next of kin of slain guards

New Delhi: Gujarat government on September 26 announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the next of kin of each of the three security personnel killed in the terrorist attack on the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar.

Announcing this, Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that each of the 23 security personnel injured would be given Rs 50,000.

For the others killed at the temple, he said that the compensation would be as per government norms besides the Rs 50,000 each compensation announced by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

The Chief Minister said that a total of 31 people including three security personnel were killed and 76 injured during the operation against terrorists. The injured included 23 security personnel.

He also announced an award of Rs 1 lakh for anyone who gave information about the terrorists involved in the attack.
