EC orders re-poll in 9 booths following allegations of rigging Srinagar: The Election Commission (EC) on September 27 ordered re-polling in nine polling booths in Poonch, Jammu and Budgam districts of the state following reports of violence, rigging and faulty Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

There will be re-polling in nine polling booths, three in Surankote, three in Mendhar, two in Budgam and one in Gandhinagar segments, following reports of violence, rigging or faulty EVMs in these areas, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dheeraj Gupta told reporters in Srinagar on September 27.

The nine polling stations would go to polls on October 1 along with four other districts, which go to polls in the third phase of elections.

Re-poll has been ordered at polling station number 43a and 44a of Budgam segment following reports of rigging there, Gupta said adding re-polling would be held in two stations in Mendhar segment and one in Gandhinagar constituency on similar basis.

In Surankote, re-poll has been scheduled after reports of violence at two polling stations and a faulty EVM at another, Gupta said.

Giving the revised figures of polling for the second phase, Gupta said after reports from all the remote areas poured in the tally stood at 41 per cent for the districts of Jammu, Srinagar and Budgam.
