High-level panel to discuss TTD security tomorrow
Friday, September 27 2002 14:52 Hrs (IST)

Tirupati: A committee, comprising of top police and officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam (TTD), the administrators of the hill shrine of Lord Venkateswara, would meet on September 28 to discuss the steps to be taken to tighten the security in the temple in the wake of the attack on Swaminarayan temple in Gujarat.

Temple sources said on September 27 that the meeting would discuss the urgent security measures to be introduced in the temple, including deployment of National Security Guard (NSG) commandos at the foothills of the temple, considered to be the richest in India.

They said that the TTD had received many suggestions on the security aspects, including construction of a helipad.
