Tirupati: A committee, comprising of top police and officials of the Tirumala
Tirupati Devastanam (TTD), the administrators of the hill shrine of Lord
Venkateswara, would meet on September 28 to discuss the steps to be taken to tighten
the security in the temple in the wake of the attack on Swaminarayan temple in
Gujarat.
Temple sources said on September 27 that the meeting would discuss the urgent
security measures to be introduced in the temple, including deployment of National
Security Guard (NSG) commandos at the foothills of the temple, considered to be the
richest in India.
They said that the TTD had received many suggestions on the security aspects,
including construction of a helipad.
