Ambala: A court in Ambala granted transit remand of Haryana Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Ravi Kant Sharma, prime suspect in journalist Shivani Bhatnagar murder case, to Delhi police to take him to the national capital.

After eluding police for nearly two months, Sharma surrendered in an Ambala court on September 27 and was remanded to judicial custody till October 10.

A Delhi police team is already in Ambala to bring the suspended IPS officer to Delhi.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Sarita Gupta, in whose court Sharma gave himself up on September 27, directed the Delhi police to produce him in the court of J P Narain at Karkardooma before 17:00 hours on September 28.

The court directed that Sharma's medical examination be done in the civil hospital in Ambala before taking him to Delhi.

Haryana police will escort Sharma till Haryana-Delhi border, the court directed.
