Chennai: Firing yet another salvo on the Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and the Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on September 29 rejected the suggestion made by both for a dialogue on the release of Cauvery water.

"Krishna's sudden statement for talks seems to be a ploy to further delay the release of water to Tamil Nadu. Prime Minister's statement is a categorical admission of his own inability as chairman of the CRA to get Karnataka to release any water to Tamil Nadu," she said in a hard hitting statement.

"Today in the teeth of Supreme Court's contempt notice, invitations for negotiations and talks are being thrown at Tamil Nadu by the Prime Minister and Karnataka Chief Minister like crumbs to the needy. Tamil Nadu prefers to get justice from the Supreme Court, which alone can come to the rescue of the farmers of Tamil Nadu for whom timely and immediate release of water is the last resort to overcome the crisis situation prevailing in the delta areas of the state and prevent it from turning into nightmarish calamity," she said.
