TDP leader shot dead by Naxalites in Andhra
Sunday, September 29 2002 14:09 Hrs (IST)

Hyderabad: A Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader was shot dead by suspected Naxalites of the banned People's War Group (PWG) near Balajipalli in Cuddapah district on September 29.

According to police, about six suspected Naxals came to a construction site and mingled with labourers where Ravinder Reddy, a district TDP leader, was executing a road-laying work.

As soon as Reddy stepped out of his car to inspect the ongoing construction work, the assailants opened fire at him from a close range, police said, adding Reddy was on the hitlist of Naxals.
