Beijing: India and China have concluded the third round of the security dialogue on
a high note paving the way for improved bilateral ties and better understanding of
mutual security concerns, including the fight against terrorism, a senior Indian
official said on September 30.
"The dialogue consisted of an overview of the current international security
situation, including the campaign against terrorism, introduction of each other's
national Defence policies, various issues related to regional security and co-
operation," joint secretary, Disarmament and International Security Affairs of the
Ministry of External Affairs, Dr Sheel Kant Sharma said.
Briefing on the third round of the security dialogue, which was held on September
29, Sharma said the two sides exchanged views on the regional situation, including
the India-Pakistan relations.
"However, we did not go into the details of the India-Pakistan tension," he said,
emphasising that the third round has led to better understanding of mutual
concerns.
"Both sides adopted a forward-looking approach to the dialogue," he commented on the
attitude of the two sides.
"As China is India's largest neighbour, we attach importance to exchanging views
with China and similarly, the Chinese side also showed interest in discussing issues
of common concern with us," Sharma said.
