Chennai: Protesting against non-release of Cauvery waters to the state by Karnataka,
the delta areas of Tamil Nadu on September 30 observed a day-long bandh, despite an
appeal by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa not to go ahead with it.
Many shops and business establishments remained closed in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and
Nagapattinam districts, the main delta areas in the state, official sources
said.
The bandh call was given by the Tamil Nadu Farmers' Association, led by Dr M R
Sivasamy.
