Chennai: The Cauvery Monitoring Committee on October 2 "sorted" out issues relating to the sharing of Cauvery waters.

Talking to reporters after a meeting of the Committee, which included representatives of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Pondicherry, its chairman A K Goswami said, "We have sorted out issues in the meeting".

Goswami said the Committee would submit its report to the Prime Minister on October 3 and the Supreme Court on October 4.

Tamil Nadu's contempt petition in the Supreme Court against Karnataka for failing to release Cauvery water in keeping with the directions of the apex court direction and the Cauvery Monitoring Committee will be heard by the court on October 4.

When asked if the Committee was satisfied with the water needs of farmers of the Cauvery delta, Goswami said, "It will be contained in our assessment report to the Prime Minister and Supreme Court."

The team was in Chennai after completing a two-day tour of the state on the direction of the Supreme Court to assess the water availability and crop position in the delta region.

The team had already made a similar assessment in Karnataka.
