Jammu: The terrorist attack on a bus near Jammu on October 2 morning in which two
persons were killed and 13 others injured might be a handiwork of Lashkar-e-Toiba
(LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfits, a top Jammu and Kashmir police
official indicated.
"Terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Toiba were responsible for
most of these incidents (which took place before and during the polls)," director
general of police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir A K Suri said.
"There is a desperation among terrorist outfits as the response to the Jammu and
Kashmir elections has been tremendously good," he said.
"The explosive device had been kept on the fuel tank of the bus, and the vehicle
caught fire after the explosion," Suri said.
The Udhampur-bound bus carrying 15 to 20 passengers caught fire soon after the
explosion around 06:25 hours (IST), the sources said.
