Ahmedabad: Police on October 3 "picked up" three more persons from Rajkot in
connection with Jaish-e-Mohammed group's alleged conspiracy to eliminate Deputy
Prime Minister L K Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, even as
suspected JeM militant Samirkhan Pathan was remanded to 14 days' police custody.
Joint commissioner of police, P P Pandey, said the trio were picked up early October
3 morning and interrogations were on.
"No formal arrest has been made," he said.
Police sources in Rajkot refused to answer any query on the matter.
It may be recalled that Pathan and his associates from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan,
had planned to assassinate Deputy Prime Minister Advani, Chief Minister Modi, Vishwa
Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Pravin Togadia and other prominent religious
heads.
Police had on October 2 brought two alleged accomplices of Pathan from Jaipur. The
two are said to have helped Pathan in procuring driving licence and some other
documents.
