Ahmedabad: Suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militant Samirkhan Pathan, allegedly
involved in hatching a conspiracy to assassinate Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani,
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others, have been sent to 14 days' police
remand.
Police said that a city metropolitan judge had on October 2 ordered PC for Pathan
and six of his accomplices.
Samir Pathan (30) was arrested at the state transport bus stand in Ahmedabad on
September 27 by Crime Branch sleuths after he arrived from Mumbai.
Pathan and his associates from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, had planned to
assassinate Deputy Prime minister L K Advani, Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Vishwa
Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Pravin Togadia and other prominent religious heads,
joint police commissioner P P Pandey had said.
Meanwhile, police on October 2 brought two more alleged accomplice of Pathan from
Jaipur. The two is said to have helped Pathan in procuring driving linsence and some
other documents, sources said.
