Nalbari (Assam): An ULFA militant was killed in an encounter with a joint Army and police team in lower Assam's Nalbari district on October 2 night, police said in Nalbari on October 3.

The joint security team on specific information launched an operation at village Bihjia, under Nalbari police station, when the ultra along with two others lobbed three grenades at them.

The security men immediately retaliated killing one of them on the spot while the two others escaped under the cover of darkness.

An AK-56 rifle, a bomb weighing 10.5 Kg, a wireless set and documents were recovered from the slain insurgent, police added.
