Washington: The United States has said its goal in Iraq is both implementation of
past resolutions on disarmament and regime change, but insisted that the UN weapons
inspectors must not go to that country under the old resolutions.
"President George W Bush believes that both (disarming Iraq and regime change) are
important and they are both statements of American policy," White House Press
Secretary Arie Fleischer said.
He, however, said that the UN arms inspectors must go to Iraq "armed with new
resolutions".
Fleischer said that Bush has made it plain for the last several weeks that he is
reviewing military options but he has not made any decisions about them.
