Nagpur: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on October 5 said the
Mumbai police would review on October 7 the investigations into the case of alleged
rash driving by actor Salman Khan that led to the death of one person and left four
others injured.
The meeting "will review the investigations conducted so far and also take into
consideration the report of joint commissioner of police (JCP) Javed Ahmad, who was
leading the probe into the accident and subsequent police action", Bhujbal, who also
holds Home portfolio, said in Nagpur.
The Deputy Chief Minister was at Nagpur to attend a meeting on security arrangements
during the forthcoming 'Navratri' festival in the city.
Bhujbal said that JCP Ahmad's report would be submitted by October 7 and any lapses
on part of police would also be looked into.
He said Salman had failed to produce his driving license before September 30 as
assured by the actor to the investigating officials at the time of his arrest.
However, he failed to do so, which "implies he does not have a driving license",
Bhujbal added.
Three regional transport authority officers were looking into records and one of
them had already denied having issued any such driving licence in the name of the
actor, the Deputy Chief Minister added.
