Sharma has not confessed in Shivani case: Police
Saturday, October 5 2002 20:33 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Delhi police on October 5 said senior IPS officer R K Sharma, the prime suspect in journalist Shivani Bhatnagar murder case, had not confessed his involvement in the crime as reported in a section of media.

Denying that Sharma has "confessed" his involvement in the alleged crime, Joint Commissioner of Police U K Katna said, "these reports are untrue and based on their own individual assessments".

Stating that interrogation of Sharma was progressing satisfactorily, Katna refused to divulge any detail about it.

"My investigation officers are satisfied with the progress of interrogation and at the moment I can't share anything with you," Katna told media persons.

When asked about reports that police are planning to take Sharma to Mumbai and Pune for the purpose of investigation, he said that could be done depending on the requirements.

Katna also denied reports of alleged "ill-treatment" of Sharma in custody.
