Siliguri: Life remained paralysed in Kalimpong sub-division of West Bengal's
Darjeeling district for the third day on October 6 in response to the 72-hour bandh
by Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) as the funeral of the party's assasinated
leader C K Pradhan passed off peacefully, police said.
The bandh is scheduled to end at 18:00 hours (IST) on October 6, Kalimpong branch
committee president of GNLF Dawa Pakhrin said.
Pakhrin said that almost all councillors of Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council including
its vice-chairman Hangoo Subba attended Pradhan's funeral at Malli on the banks of
River Teesta on October 5.
He thanked the hill people for maintaining peace and law and order during the bandh.
Police are yet to arrest Pradhan's assailant.
Kalimpong police said though Pradhan was gunned down in broad daylight in heart of
the town no eye witness came forward to provide any information. "We are, however,
trying our utmost."
