Bangalore: Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Limited, on
October 6 announced that it has been recommended for certification for BS7799-2:
2002 standards by the international audit firm of Des Norke Veritas.
BS7799-2: 2002 helps Wipro to develop, implement and measure effective processes and
practices to manage information and data security, a company statement said.
"This announcement further evidences Wipro's preeminent position as the leader in
quality among IT consulting firms worldwide, as well as addresses an area of crucial
importance to all corporations, that being the subject of information technology
security management," it said
"With the increasing focus on information security, physical security and business
continuity planning in case of unforeseen disaster, the BS7799 certification
provides a means for us to benchmark our Information Security Management Systems
(ISMS) to an international standard and to reassure clients and business partners
who entrust information into the custody of Wipro technologies," said Sambuddha Deb,
chief quality officer, Wipro Technologies.
"The certification assures our clients of business continuity and minimises business
losses by protecting information from a wide range of threats," he added.
