Coimbatore: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international president Ashok Singhal on
October 7 said only Rama Janma Bhoomi Nyas was trying to build Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Talking to reporters in Coimbatore, he said "no one else, except Ram Janma Bhoomi
Nyas, is trying to build the temple".
Responding to a query on the call by Mahant Dharmadas, president of the Vishwa
Dharam Raksha Parishad, to arrest VHP leaders, including him under Prevention of
Terrorism Act (POTA), for "indulging in political terrorism", Singhal said "who
cares for him".
"Dharmadas is neither the founder nor a trustee of the Nyaas. He is an outsider,"
the VHP leader said adding, "he has no place or dignity in Ayodhya and the people
there knew very well that Dharmadas had no role to play in the temple issue".
"We have been working to build the temple and the ground floor sculptures are
ready," Singhal said.
"Dharmadas had been picked up by a select people, particularly by the foreign
language press," he alleged.
Dharmadas had recently set a deadline of October 6 to arrest Singhal along with
other VHP leaders Praveen Togadia and Ramachandra Das Paramahans under POTA, failing
which he would move to court seeking justice.
