Srinagar: Accusing the Ram Jethmalani's Kashmir Committee (KC) of conspiring to
weaken the National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir, party president Omar
Abdullah on October 7 said the NC will have no contacts with it in future.
"NC has decided to have no further contact or association with the Jethmalani
Committee because it has proved itself to be a Congress political committee," Omar,
Minister of State for External Affairs, said in a statement in Srinagar.
Omar alleged that the Jethmalani Committee, in close co-ordination with the Congress
and other Opposition parties, was only working to weaken the NC.
"It is a conspiracy against the NC spearheaded by the Committee with support from
forces, who do not wish to see stability in Kashmir," he said.
Omar said NC has been a target of such conspiracies since 1953, when his grandfather
Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah's government was dismissed.
He said he was confident that the overwhelming support of the people for NC in the
elections will once again give a befitting reply to these conspirators.
Defending his allegations against Peoples Conference, a constituent of Hurriyat
Conference, entering into an alliance with Congress, Omar said the conduct of Sajjad
Lone and Congress leader Saifuddin Soz has only gone to prove the misgivings of Chief
Minister Farooq Abdullah about the objective of the committee.
