Chennai: The Tamil film Industry will go ahead with its rally at Neyveli on October 12 protesting against the non-release of Cauvery water by Karnataka, sources said it on October 7.

After a 20-minute meeting with Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa at the secretariat, Bharatiraja, renowned director and convenor of 'Tamils Welfare Protection Front', which has organised the rally, told reporters on October 7 that the Chief Minister had expressed happiness over the unity shown by the film industry in the state on the issue.

He said the Tamil film delegation, which met her, had given details about their programme and she expressed confidence that the rally would pass off peacefully.

He said he would announce the details of the agitation on October 8.

Asked whether the delegation would also meet other political leaders, he said the rally was a film industry's programme and there was no need to meet other leaders.

Asked whether actors Rajnikant and Vijaykant would participate in the protest, he said it was not the question of individuals as the industry itself had launched a united action.

He said their main demand was that Karnataka should not be supplied power till it releases water.

Film actors Kamal Hassan, Radha Ravi and S S Chandran, director K Balachander, actresses Manorama, Khushboo and Simran formed part of the delegation.
