‘Doda attack reflects desperation of terrorists’
Tuesday, October 8 2002 12:42 Hrs (IST)

Gandhinagar: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said that the terrorist attack on October 8 in Doda during the final round of polling in Jammu and Kashmir was not unexpected and reflected "frustration and desperation" of terrorist groups from across the border.

"This was not unexpected. They thought, this is the fourth (phase), and as the polls inched towards success gradually, their frustration and desperation has been increasing," Advani, who arrived here to participate in a BJP convention, told reporters.

"With the type of area Doda is, there was always a possibility of such an attack, and it has happened," he said.

He congratulated the NSG commandos, Gujarat police personnel and the people of Gujarat for foiling the "evil conspiracy" of terrorists to spread communal violence in Gujarat by attacking the Akshardham temple.

"I express my gratitude to them on behalf of the entire country," he said.
