New Delhi: Tamil Nadu on October 8 filed a second contempt petition against Karnataka in the Supreme Court alleging violation of the Court's orders last week directing release of 9,000 CUSECS of Cauvery water to it.

The contemnors cited in the petition are Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna, Water Resources Minister H K Patil and the state Chief Secretary A Ravindra.

Alleging that the three had violated the Court's directions, Tamil Nadu's petition demanded consequential damages arising out of damage to crops in the state due to Karnataka's decision not to release water.
