Copenhagen: Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee said that India will resume
dialogue with arch-foe Pakistan if Islamabad halts cross-border "terrorism" into
Indian-controlled territory.
"Let Pakistan stop cross-border terrorism and we will resume our dialogue," the
Indian leader said at a press conference in Copenhagen after talks with the Danish
presidency of the European Union.
More than 800 people have been killed in Kashmir during recent elections, the
results of which appeared to show the ruling National Conference party had lost
control of the province.
During the EU-India talks, the European Union called on New Delhi to de-escalate
tensions with nuclear-armed neighbour Pakistan, which India accuses of being behind
the violence in Kashmir.
