Omar trailing to PDP candidate by 300 votes

Srinagar: National Conference president Omar Abdullah was on October 10 trailing by over 300 votes to his nearest rival People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Qazi Mohammad Afzal in the Ganderbal Assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir.

Of the votes counted so far, Afzal has polled 1044 votes against 663 by Omar.

In Kangan, Mian Altaf of National Conference was leading.

Information Minister and NC nominee Ajatshatru Singh was also trailing in Nagrota in the second round behind Congress candidate after leading in the first round.

While Panthers Party, BSP and BJP led at one seat each, independents were leading at three in the 87-member Assembly.

Prominent among those marching ahead were Works Minister and NC candidate Ghulam Moiuddin Shah in Batmaloo and Finance Minister Abdul Rahim rather in Chrar-e-Sharief.

Sports Minister and NC candidate Harbans Singh was trailing behind Congress nominee in Gandhinagar constituency.

Sitting MLA Ashok Sharma was leading in Kalakote.

Mian Altaf was leading over his nearest PDP rival Ghulam Mohammad Dar by over 2,000 votes. Altaf polled 3,695 while Dar polled 1,084 votes.

In chadoora Assembly constituency, PDP candidate Javid Mir was leading over his National Conference candidate Ali Mohammad Dar by over 2,300 votes.

Mir polled 3,417 while Dar polled 1,026 votes.

Mohammad Syed Akhoon of National Conference was leading over his nearest PDP rival Ghulam Mohiuddin Akhoon by 57 votes in Hazratbal constituency of Srinagar.

While NC candidate polled 77 votes, PDP had managed only 20 so far.

Meanwhile, People's Democratic Party's vice president Mehbooba Mufti was leading in Pahalgham constituency by over 600 votes over his nearest National Conference rival Rafiaq Mir.

In Anantnag, National Conference candidate Mehboob Beig was leading over his nearest Awami Leauge Liyaqat Ali Kahn by 1378 votes.

In Noorabad, Sakina Itoo had managed to bridge the gap in the second round over his nearest rival Abdul Aziz Zargar.
