Srinagar: Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit on October 10 suffered a major jolt
when 13 of its hardcore militants were killed in two encounters with security forces
in Kashmir valley.
A jawan and a civilian were also killed in the encounters, which took place during
search operations at Mirpora-Beerwah in Badgam district and Banday Payeen near
Kreeri in Baramulla district, a police spokesman said on October 10.
Elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir, five persons, including four ultras, were killed and
six others injured, while a People's Democratic Party leader escaped unhurt in a

Security forces raided Mirpora village of Central Kashmir's Badgam early October 10

had assembled for a meeting in the village.
As the troops started house-to-house searches, hiding militants resorted to firing
and in the ensuing gunfight nine ultras were killed. A civilian and a jawan were
also killed in the encounter, the spokesman said, adding the slain militants
belonged to the JeM.
A huge cache of arms and ammunition, including nine AK rifles, two pistols, four
wireless sets and some grenades, were recovered from them.
In another major encounter in the day, troops killed four JeM militants in a
