Mumbai: Stating that successful completion of Jammu and Kashmir elections was a slap
on Pakistan's face, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar on
October 11 emphasised the need for installing a stable government in the border
state.
The election had established that India's views on Jammu and Kashmir were correct,
thereby boosting the country's image on international fora, Pawar told
reporters.
However, in view of the hung Assembly there, the NCP leader said a weak government
might not be able to tackle terrorism effectively. So the need of the hour was to
establish a stable government, he opined.
Stating that people were fed up with the performance of National Conference
government, Pawar said the new regime should be "result oriented" and must take
administration along with it.
The successful completion of elections have also strengthened the country's unity,
he expressed.
Commenting on Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna's refusal to abide by Supreme
Court verdict on Cauvery water dispute, Pawar said it can lead to a Constitutional
crisis.
