Friday, October 11 2002 17:16 Hrs (IST)

Busan: India put up a dismal show to be placed ninth after the first round of competitions in the equestrian team show jumping event of the 14th Asian Games on Friday.

The team comprising Sudhir Ahlawat, Sandeep Dewan, Jaspal Massih and Sajjan Kumar were far from impressive and they had 61 penalty points to find themselves at the bottom of the table.

The strong Japanese team comprising Eiji Okazaki, Tadayoshi Hayashi, Kenji Moromoto and Osamu Komiyama were at top with no penalty point while the South Korean quartet of Suk Jun Yu, Jin Kyung Lee, Sung Whan Kim and Jae Hong Park were in the second position.
