Chennai: Artistes owing allegiance to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will participate in the Tamil film industry's rally at Neyveli o October 12 demanding stoppage of power to Karnataka from NLC, till it released Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

DMK Member of Parliament (MP) and Tamil Actor R Saratkumar told reporters that as the South Indian Film Artistes Association president Vijaykant had announced that the rally would be peaceful, party president M Karunanidhi had asked them to participate.

They would also be participating in the fast organised by superstar Rajnikant on October 13, he said.

Karunanidhi had earlier asked artistes supporting DMK not to take part in any "agitation" and had stated that the DMK would participate in a protest only if it was organised by the South Indian Film Artistes Association.

Meanwhile, talking to reporters, Vijaykant assured that the rally would be peaceful.
