Mandya: Miscreants hurled stones and tomatoes at a procession held as part of the 'pada yatra' (protest march) by Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna on the Cauvery issue in his home district on October 12.

Police said that the incident occurred long after Krishna had reached the stadium where he addressed a massive rally despite continuous drizzle, to mark the culmination of his six-day gruelling 'yatra'.

None was injured in the incident, which happened when the procession passed in front of the Silver Jubilee park where supporters of the district farmers' committee, which is spearheading the agitation against release of Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu, were staging a dharna.

The committee, which had asked Krishna to call off his 'pada yatra', was staging the dharna in protest against Tamil film industry's threat to stop power supply from Neyveli Lignite Corporation's power plant to Karnataka for not releasing water.

No other untoward incident was reported during Krishna's programme, police said.
