Vadodara: The outcome of Assembly polls in Gujarat, likely to be held in the next
couple of months, will bring an end to dynastic rule of Congress party, Gujarat
Chief Minister Narendra Modi said on October 12.
Commenting on the outcome of polls in Jammu and Kashmir, Modi said, "It was end of
dynastic rule and terrorism in that state and Democracy has triumphed."
Modi told reporters that only Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh could have a
say on the date of holding of polls in Gujarat.
Modi, who was on a brief visit to the city to attend some functions, criticised the
Congress for projecting the bad image of Gujarat outside the state and rejected its
demand for a White Paper on financial and economic scenario in the
state.
He asked Congress to help in recovery of Rs 1800 crores from the three Congress-
ruled states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan towards the cost of
construction of Sardar Sarovar project.
He appealed to the media to show restraint in reporting about weakening of co-
operative banks as it created panic among the depositors.
