Srinagar: In a bid to sew up a coalition, People's Democratic Party (PDP) president
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that he would hold talks with Congress president Sonia
Gandhi in New Delhi on October 12 on government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
"I am leaving for Delhi where I will meet Gandhi for consultations for the formation
of a new government in the state," Sayeed said.
He said that the meeting would help in working out modalities for a Congress-PDP
alliance and expedite formation of the government in the state.
Sayeed's decision to meet Gandhi came in the wake of reports that both Congress and
PDP were trying to rope in independents to increase their strength resulting in the
delay in the formation of government.
