2 cops killed in landmine blast in Chattisgarh

Raipur: Two policemen including one assistant platoon commander were killed and seven others injured, five of them seriously, when Naxalites triggered a landmine in Baste district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

"Naxalites belonging to the outlawed People's War Group (PWG) triggered a landmine near Bhopalpatna about 500 km from the state capital at about 18:30 hours (IST) today when police personnel were returning to their base in the Border Road Organisation vehicle," additional director general of police, Rajiv Mathur said.

Assistant platoon commander Jairam Lakra and one more police personnel were killed on the spot, whereas seven other were injured, five of them seriously, Mathur added.
