Neyveli: The Sun TV has not been permitted live telecast of the film artists' rally and 'dharna' to protest against Karnataka's refusal to release Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu at Neyveli on October 12 evening, a senior police official said in Neyveli.

When contacted, Rajiv Kumar superintendent of police (SP), Cuddalore, told that the TV channel was not permitted to cover the event as it did not have a permission letter from film director Bharatiraja, who had first given the call for the rally.

Besides, the TV company's outdoor broadcast van parked near the venue of the 'dharna' was removed by the police in the morning following arguments between the TV personnel and the police, Rajiv Kumar said.

Later, as per the order of the deputy SP Murugaya the outdoor unit was removed from the site.

However, another Tamil channel Jaya TV has been allowed to cover the event live, Rajiv Kumar said.

The protestors would not be allowed to take out the rally inside the residential and industrial area of Neyveli Lignite Corporation as suggested by the corporation, he said.
