Patna: The Samajwadi Party president, Mulayam Singh Yadav, on October 13 charged that
the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government at the Centre was being ''remote
controlled'' by foreign powers and described the three-year rule of the Vajpayee
ministry as a ''black chapter'' in the annals of Indian democracy.
''Vajpayee government is dancing to the tune of foreign powers and multinationals and
they are 'remote controlling' the Indian economy and external affairs,'' Yadav, a
former
Union Minister, who was in Patna to attend the shradh ceremony of the
secretary-general of the party, Kapildeo Singh, told reporters at the Patna
airport.
Economic policies pursued by the Centre are dictated by multinationals and they are
completely opposed to the development of the indigenous industries, he said citing
India's stand on WTO (World Trade Organisation) and other issues.
Asserting that the Centre's economic policy was directionless, he said that farmers,
businessmen, service class and common people were suffering as the economic decisions
were being implemented to suit interests of multinationals.
Ridiculing the Centre's trumpeted resolve to end terrorism, Yadav alleged that the
cross-border terrorism and incidents of terrorist attacks had increased during the
present rule.
This is why the people of Jammu and Kashmir discarded the BJP (Bharatiya Janata
Party) during the recently concluded Assembly elections though it played the
''Hindutva card''.
The Samajwadi Party chief ruled out the possibility of any kind of electoral alliance
with the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) in the next elections.
