Jammu: Eight people including seven militants and an Army personnel, were killed in separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir since October 14 night, official sources said on October 15.

Security forces on a tip off launched an operation in Mendhar in Poonch district, the sources said adding that a gun battle with militants followed in which one ultra identified as Abdul Salam alias Shah Ban and an Army personnel, Jagdish Singh were killed.

Three militants were killed in another encounter in Surankote in the district, the sources said. Three AK-47, seven hand grenades and a wireless set were recovered from them.

In Rajouri district two terrorists were shot dead by security forces at Behrot village of Thanamandi. Three security personnel and a civilian were injured the encounter, they said.

Security forces shot dead another militant at Manloo in Shopian area of Pulwama district on October 15 night while ultras opened fire and injured a woman Zubaida near her house at Watnab in Kokernag area of Anantnag district.

Militants lobbed a grenade towards a security patrol at Bagunder-Wangam near Kokernag on October 15 afternoon but no one was injured in the explosion.
