New Delhi: Anju Bobby George, who won the gold in long jump at Busan Asian Games,
has set her eyes next on breaking the seven-metre barrier.
"I want to go past 7-metres, the magic mark," she said with a glint in her eyes
after receiving a memento from A K Antony, the Kerala Chief Minister, on Friday.
Anju cleared 6.53m at Busan to clinch gold but later said she was disappointed
because it was well below her personal best of 6.74m. "We have the World
Championships coming up next year at Paris, and then the Athens Olympics in 2004. I
am looking forward to them," said Anju who also won a bronze in Manchester
Commonwealth Games in July-August.
K M Beenamol was doubly thrilled after winning an unexpected gold in the 800m event
and anchoring the 4x400m women's relay team apart from bagging a silver in the 400m.
