Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Governor Suraj Bhan has granted sanction for prosecution of former Chief Minister and Congress leader V B Singh in a case pertaining to alleged favours shown by him in allocation of Khair wood quota to a firm days before demitting office in March 1998, highly placed sources said on October 18.

The vigilance department had sought the Governor's sanction for prosecution of Singh after detailed investigations and Bhan accorded the sanction after thoroughly scrutinising the papers, the sources said.

The Assembly Secretariat has also given clearance in this regard, the sources said.
