Mumbai: Continuing his tirade against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National
Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on October 18
virtually warned the Centre that it should honour issues raised by Sena or "be
prepared to face the consequences".
"I have my limits. If they are crossed then I will come out in my full colours",
Thackeray said when his attention was drawn to NDA "not paying any heed" to his
opinions on disinvestment, proposed labour reforms and withdrawing armed forces from
the Indo-Pak border.
Addressing a press conference at his residence in Mumbai, the Sena chief said he was
airing his views on various issues "keeping national interest in mind" and would not
wait for the Centre's response to them.
"I speak not for the Centre to respond. It is out of my love for this country. I
speak for my Shiv sainiks," Thackeray said adding that failure of the Centre to act
on his suggestions did not "dishearten" him.
Reiterating that the Centre was doing little to stamp out terrorism, Thackeray
said "their foreign tours, symposiums and seminars are going on, but there seems to
be no action against terrorism".
Asked about Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi's statement that Sena ministers would
resign from NDA if action were initiated against their leader, Thackeray
said, "Joshi is first a Sena leader. What he says is party's policy."
Thackeray said he has "chalked out the future course of action in this regard" but
refused to divulge it.
