Sporadic violence in Kutch over religious conversion
Friday, October 18 2002 18:12 Hrs (IST)

Ahmedabad: Sporadic incidents of violence and arson have been reported from Adeshar village, about 180 km from Bhuj town in the Kutch region on October 18, police sources at Bhuj said.

At least three shops were set ablaze in the village falling under Rapar taluk over a "dispute related to religious conversion", police said over phone. They, however, refused to identify the groups involved.

Meanwhile, confirming the news, state Cabinet spokesman Purushottam Rupala said, "the situation is under control".

Senior police officials have rushed to the spot from Bhuj, he added.
