Bengal court extends ISI agent's remand by 7 days

Coochbehar (West Bengal): The police remand of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agent Nazrul, arrested from Jaisalmer in September, was on October 19 further extended till October 26 by a Mekhliganj court near Coochbehar.

Mekhliganj SDJM Rabindranath Samanta granted the prayer of the investigating officer for extension of Nazrul's police custody for seven more days.

The judicial custody of four of his associates, Amarjit Roy, Subhas Karmakar, Dipak Karmakar and Shibu Karmakar, was also extended by the SDJM.

With the assistance of these four who were arrested on September 13 from Chengrabandha and Mekhliganj in Coochbehar district, Nazrul had crossed the Indo- Bangla border several times.

Nazrul was arrested in Jaisalmer on September 8 and brought to Jalpaiguri in connection with cases including conspiracy against the state, police said.

None of the accused was represented by any lawyer.
