Mumbai: Film producer Ashok Chain was on October 21 shot at by an unidentified
person at his office-cum-residence at Santacruz, police said.
Two persons came to premises of the 42-year-old filmmaker to seek paying guest
accommodation. Ashok informed them that already three persons were staying there as
paying guests and there was no further room to accommodate them.
One of the persons brandished a revolver and opened fire at Ashok injuring him in
the stomach. He fired two rounds and only one of the bullets hit the victim, police
said.
The duo escaped after committing the crime. Ashok was rushed to nearby hospital
where he was reported to be out of danger.
Police suspect personal enmity to be the cause of the attack.
A man-hunt has been launched to trace the duo.
